What is knee pain?

It is important to differentiate age groups and causes of knee pain. In older adults, the main cause is osteoarthritis, arthrosis. On the other hand, in young people it comes from sports or trauma. In children and adolescents they are growing pains. 

In young adults: 

  • Injuries: 

    • Sprains 

    • Strains 

    • Fractures

    • Meniscus tears

    • Ligament injuries 

  • Overexertion 

  • Degenerative problems osteoarthritis (arthrosis) 

  • Medical conditions: 

  • Such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, or septic arthritis 

  • Bursitis 

  • Tendinitis (Tendinosis) 

  • Alignment problems 

  • Previous injuries meniscus problems 

  • Ligament problems

In the kids: 

  • Growth injuries

  • Osgood schlatter syndrome

  • Injuries: 

    • Sprains 

    • Strains 

    • Fractures 

    • Meniscus tears 

    • Ligament injuries

Symptoms

  • Pain Inflammation 

  • Rigidity 

  • Limitation of movement 

  • Clicking, crackling, or rubbing 

  • Touch sensitivity 

  • Weakness 

  • Changes in gait 

  • Problems supporting weight 

  • Difficulty performing daily activities
